Choose the output for the next job
MP3 is convenient for broad playback, M4A/AAC is efficient for modern devices, and WAV is useful when another editing step benefits from PCM audio.
Inspect the source first
Sample rate, channels and codec help explain expected output quality and size.
Do not add quality by converting
Converting compressed source audio to WAV makes it larger, not more detailed. WAV simply avoids another lossy encode for later editing.
Use the primary track intentionally
Files can contain multiple audio tracks. The first release exports the media engine's primary track and reports that choice clearly.
