Start with the actual source
File size alone does not tell you whether a video is inefficient. Resolution, duration, codec and bitrate all matter. Inspect those facts before deciding how aggressively to compress.
Reduce the expensive dimensions first
For oversized delivery files, reducing 4K to 1080p can save more bytes than forcing an extreme quality setting at the original resolution. OpenFileTools never upscales during compression.
Separate video and audio decisions
Speech-heavy video often needs less audio bitrate than music-heavy content. The controls keep audio quality explicit rather than silently stripping or over-compressing it.
Judge the measured result
A re-encode can occasionally grow an already efficient source. Compare actual bytes and preview the result before replacing the original.
