What this document is for
An estimate communicates a proposed scope and price before final invoicing. Identify the customer, use a traceable estimate number, add an issue date and valid-until date, and label the document as an estimate or quote rather than an invoice.
Fields and decisions that matter
Itemize enough detail for the customer to understand what is included. Quantities and rates create the subtotal; optional discount, user-entered tax, and other charges create the estimated total. Use notes and terms for assumptions, exclusions, acceptance steps, and how long pricing remains valid.
Customize and review the live preview
Open the related template, complete required fields, add or remove repeatable rows where available, and reorder entries when sequence matters. Choose A4 or US Letter, orientation, typography, spacing, accent color, and a restrained style. The preview updates from current tab state and renders user content as text rather than HTML.
- Check names, dates, references, quantities, and totals.
- Remove empty optional content instead of leaving unexplained placeholders.
- Review long text and tables for page breaks before saving.
Important limitations
Actual work, materials, taxes, or scope can change unless a separate agreement fixes them. This formatted estimate does not create acceptance, guarantee final price, or replace legal review for important contracts.
Save a reviewed PDF privately
Choose Print / Save PDF, select the browser's PDF destination, confirm paper size and orientation, and inspect the saved file before sharing it. Browser pagination and printer scaling can vary. OpenFileTools does not upload, persist, or add document contents to a URL, and closing the tab clears the working state.
