Phone videos can store rotation metadata. The crop is defined against the visually oriented frame rather than assuming raw coded orientation.

Small coordinate changes can clip subtitles, faces or product edges. Review the crop on representative frames.
Cropping usually forces a transcode
Encoded video frames cannot generally be cut spatially without decoding and re-encoding them.
Use crop and resize deliberately
Cropping changes composition; resizing changes pixel dimensions. Apply the minimum transformation required by the destination.
