Muting should remove the track
Setting audio samples to zero still leaves an audio stream. A cleaner muted derivative discards audio tracks entirely.
Avoid unnecessary video loss
When the video codec is already compatible with the output container, the engine can preserve encoded video instead of forcing a new generation.
Check autoplay destinations
Some social/web destinations treat silent/no-audio media differently. Verify the target platform behavior.
Keep the original
The muted result is a derivative. Your source retains its audio.
