Choose segments for the destination
Equal clips are useful for upload limits, review batches and lessons. Use an intentional duration rather than creating dozens of tiny fragments.
Boundaries can force transcoding
Encoded video is organized around keyframes. Exact arbitrary boundaries often require decode/re-encode work.
Keep filenames sortable
Numbered files plus timestamp ranges make the ZIP easier to review in chronological order.
Do not use splitting as archival strategy
Keep the original master; split pieces are convenience derivatives.
