Choose boundaries by listening
Numeric times are precise, but use playback around both boundaries so words and transients are not clipped.
Leave small natural margins
For speech and music, a few milliseconds of natural room can sound cleaner than cutting exactly at the first/last non-zero sample.
Pick the right output
Keep a lossless master when repeated editing is expected. MP3/M4A are convenient delivery formats.
Source remains intact
