Readability Analyzer: Complete Practical Guide

Analyze word, sentence, syllable, reading-ease, grade-level, paragraph, and long-sentence metrics locally without inventing an SEO ranking score.

Readability formulas are approximations

Flesch-style formulas estimate difficulty from sentence length and syllables. They do not measure factual accuracy, persuasion, domain expertise or whether technical terminology is necessary.

Use sentence-level findings for editing

Long-sentence and dense-paragraph flags are most useful when they point to specific places to review, rather than collapsing an article into one mysterious score.

Do not optimize writing for a number

A lower grade level is not automatically better. Legal, medical, engineering and academic material may require precise terminology. Match the intended audience.

The analysis is deterministic and local. OpenFileTools does not need an AI service to count words, estimate syllables or calculate these formulas.
