Why this tool is different

eBay has a clear minimum size and separate quality recommendations. OpenFileTools shows both, so a valid 900 px image is not mislabeled simply because it misses a preferred 1,600 px longest-side target.

Requirements and recommendations

eBay picture checks

  • At least 500 px on the longest side is required by eBay’s picture policy.
  • A 1,600 px longest side is OpenFileTools’s recommended target for better viewing.
  • Each uploaded image should be no larger than 12 MB.
How OpenFileTools processes it

Local processing, explicit choices.

OpenFileTools checks dimensions and source file size, then creates the selected local export. Listing accuracy and prohibited content remain the seller’s responsibility.

Minimum and recommended sizes are different

eBay's minimum check uses 500 px on the longest side. OpenFileTools separately uses 1,600 px on the longest side as its recommended quality target, so proportional landscape and portrait images do not need to be square.

  • A 1,600 × 900 image reaches the working target.
  • Images below 1,600 px can still pass the 500 px minimum.

Listing accuracy still matters

Keep each image within the documented 12 MB uploader guidance and show the item's actual condition. Added borders, marketing text, badges, and watermarks can create policy or buyer-trust problems.

  • Review used or damaged items especially carefully.
  • Resizing cannot validate what the photograph depicts.
