OpenFileTools Trade Studio

Build the trade decision before you build the paperwork.

Start with a legal/classifiable product, market evidence and a real counterparty. Then price the exact responsibility, document it, ship it and reconcile the actual result. Trade Studio keeps those steps connected instead of presenting disconnected forms.

No guessed complianceUnknown classifications, tariffs and regulatory requirements stay unresolved until verified.Evidence keeps provenanceTrade and counterparty records keep source/date instead of becoming anonymous copied data.Plan vs actual stays separateEstimates remain reproducible so freight, FX, receipts and landed costs can be reconciled later.
New to exporting from India?

Start with registrations and product legality—not buyer emails.

This is a working sequence, not a claim that every exporter needs every registration. Product, entity, scheme, port and destination can change the path.

  1. 01

Set up the legal business + bank relationship

Know the legal exporter name and account that will receive trade proceeds. Udyam/MSME is optional where applicable; the official Udyam portal is free. GST registration depends on tax applicability rather than being a universal export licence.

  2. 02

    Get IEC when required

Apply through DGFT. DGFT's published IEC application material identifies the application fee as ₹500. Exemptions and live requirements still need to be checked when applying.

  3. 03

Classify the exact product + check export policy

Find the international HS family, verify India ITC(HS), then check whether the item is free, restricted, prohibited, SCOMET-controlled or subject to a regulator/product condition.

  4. 04

Add product/EPC registration only when applicable

RCMC is not one universal certificate or fee. The correct registering authority and cost depend on the product/sector and purpose.

  5. 05

    Complete customs/port/bank setup as required

Use ICEGATE and the applicable AD-code/bank-account/customs-location workflows. A CHA/customs broker may charge a commercial service fee; do not present that private fee as a government registration charge.

  6. 06

Choose markets using demand + access

Screen product-country trade, then verify destination tariffs/preferences, rules of origin and regulations. An FTA does not automatically make every product 0% duty.

  7. 07

    Find and verify buyers

Use official/trade channels, buyer/import evidence, events, missions/EPCs and direct research. Verify identity, contact, product fit and payment/bank instructions before material commitment.

  8. 08

Cost the deal + agree Incoterms®

Build product, packing, origin, freight, insurance, bank/FX and seller-paid destination costs; then agree the exact Incoterm® rule and named place.

  9. 09

    Lock the transaction in documents

Quotation → acceptance/PO → pro forma when needed → commercial invoice + packing list + transport/customs/product documents that actually apply.

  10. 10

    Ship, collect and reconcile

Track freight milestones, payment/receivable, FX, bank/exception costs and actual shipment profit instead of overwriting the original estimate.

The import tools never infer a customs rate from a product name. Classification, origin, valuation and current duty/tax treatment remain explicit verification steps.
