Secure redaction is different from drawing a black box over recoverable content. This tool rebuilds every affected page from redacted pixels, while unaffected pages remain structural PDF copies.
How OpenFileTools processes it
Local processing, explicit choices.
The managed PDF.js session renders each affected page sequentially at bounded lossless quality. Selected pixels are replaced, then a new PDF is built without copying any original object from affected pages. The result is reopened, its geometry is validated, affected pages are checked for residual searchable text, and only then is download enabled.

Is this just a black rectangle overlay?
No. Original objects from affected pages are not copied into the generated PDF; only the reviewed redacted pixels are embedded.
Are unaffected pages rasterized?
No. Only pages containing planned redactions are rebuilt as images. Other pages remain structural copies.
Is this a forensic guarantee?
No. It performs tested content removal for supported PDFs, but specialized review is appropriate when legal or regulatory assurance is required.
