Build from events with sources
Dates and stories are easier to maintain when each event has a person, place, category and optional source/note field. Record uncertainty instead of silently converting an estimate into a fact.
Respect living people's privacy
A family timeline can contain sensitive information. Remove addresses, medical details, identifiers or private stories before sharing a report broadly.
Use categories to reveal patterns
Births, moves, education, work, immigration, marriage and other categories can make a long chronology easier to scan without changing the underlying event data.
Keep the editable dataset as the source
The printable report is a snapshot. Preserve CSV/XLSX data for corrections, new discoveries and future family-history projects.
