Marketplace Image Size Comparison: Amazon, Etsy, eBay, and Shopify

The platforms do not use one universal target

Amazon uses a 1,000 px longest-side zoom-readiness threshold and a stronger 1,600 px working target. Etsy separates a 635 px first-photo threshold from a 2,000 px width-and-height recommendation. eBay requires 500 px on the longest side, while Shopify documents flexible upload limits and square-image guidance.

Dimensions are only one part of readiness

Amazon main-image background and framing, Etsy thumbnail crops, eBay image accuracy, Shopify theme consistency, and platform file limits all require separate attention. Square images are not universally mandatory on any of the four platforms.
